Overview

A single-storey new build in rural Limerick needed a full scaffold wrap while blockwork rose and hollowcore concrete floor units were set. The site sits open to fields, so access had to work for both exterior trades on the elevations and temporary support inside as the concrete floors went in.

Outside, boarded platforms ran around the house. Inside, adjustable steel props carried the floor load until the structure was ready — the two setups had to stay coordinated so the build could keep moving without gaps in safe access.

The Brief

Wrap the blockwork house with stable working lifts, give clear platforms for masonry and exterior work, and support the concrete floor stage with properly spaced props under timber bearers. The client needed a tidy rural site that stayed usable for plant, materials, and follow-on trades as walls and floors progressed together.

What We Did

We erected a continuous scaffold wrap on gravel bases around the concrete-block structure, with boarded lifts and handrails to the slab edge. Platforms were set to suit window and door openings so trades could work the elevations safely once the walls were up.

As hollowcore units went in, we installed and adjusted rows of steel props inside the rooms, seated on blocks and topped with timber to spread the load. Props stayed in place through the critical support period, while the external wrap remained available for ongoing exterior access until that stage of the build was complete.

Services Involved

  • Full single-storey scaffolding wrap
  • Working platforms for blockwork and exterior trades
  • Temporary prop support under concrete floor units
  • Coordination between external access and internal temporary works

Result

The Limerick new build had continuous safe access outside and solid temporary support inside while walls and concrete floors went in — leaving the next construction stage ready to follow without rework on access or props.
