Overview
A residential site in Trim needed a durable concrete slab as part of a wider build. From crushed-stone sub-base through formwork, membrane, reinforcement, and finishing, each stage had to land correctly before follow-on construction could start on top.
The pour sat in an outdoor garden setting beside hedges and trees, so levels, edge protection, and curing all needed careful management in open weather — not just a tidy finish on the day of the pour.
The Brief
Prepare a stable sub-base, set accurate timber formwork, lay a damp-proof membrane and steel mesh at the right height, then pour and finish within a workable weather window. Adjacent groundworks and landscaping could not be held up by a poorly sequenced slab, so access for plant and a clean handover after curing were part of the brief as well.
What We Did
We boxed out the slab with timber formwork on a compacted stone base, lined the area with heavy-duty membrane turned up at the edges, and set steel reinforcement on spacers so the mesh would sit correctly in the pour. Footings and edge sections were formed and checked for line before concrete arrived.
On pour day we placed and levelled the concrete, finished the surface, and protected the slab while it cured. Formwork was struck in sequence, edges cleaned, and the site left tidy so the next build stage could start without rework on levels or protection.
